Need clinical examination of patient, some times enteric fever takes 9 to 10 days to defeverence to occur, or other rare causes should be ruled out

I would suggest you to see Dr S. Mehendiratta once more, he is a respectable and very capable doctor. And as fever is of long duration patient needs to be examined thoroughly before giving any blanket advice
