Febrile fits
My baby is one year old and got febrile fits since she had high fever. Paediatrician suggested to take EEG for her to check if sheer have seizure disorder and we did. After seeing the result he said there are symptoms of seizure disorder and the baby need to take 2 years of regular medice to get cute. We are confused about following it coz this is the first time she got that kind of jerk during fever. Please suggest how serious this is. And is seizure disorder a critical one?

See with the background of febrile fits if EEG is positive for a seizure foci, it is advisable to take antiseizure drug for 2-3yrs. Get an EEG done after 3yrs of drug course, and decide about continuing the medicine.if there is no family history of seizures and if she is developmentally normal and her imaging studies of brain is normal, it is less likely that she will have fit in future. Yes seizure disorders are critical one. We need to follow her .
