It is completely understandable that you are feeling overwhelmed right now; dealing with a major conflict in your friend group while carrying the heavy academic pressure of your final year in medical school is an incredibly difficult burden to manage alone. When your mind keeps replaying the event what psychologists call rumination.. it creates a cycle of guilt and anxiety that naturally drains your confidence and makes it nearly impossible to focus on your studies. Consulting a psychologist can be a turning point because they provide a safe, non-judgmental space to unpack these emotions and offer practical tools to help you "turn off" those looping thoughts. They can help you regain control over your concentration and rebuild your self-esteem, ensuring that this one painful situation doesn't stand in the way of your hard-earned career and well-being.

What you’re describing is very distressing, and it makes sense after a conflict with close friends. When the mind keeps replaying an incident, focus and confidence naturally drop. This doesn’t mean you’re losing control, it means your mind is under stress.
Next Steps
Since this is affecting your concentration, memory, and confidence, a consultation would be the next helpful step.
Health Tips
With the help of a psychologist, you can work on calming the overthinking and helping you regain focus and self-belief in a structured way. You don’t have to handle this alone.

Hi, It sounds like you're going through a very stressful and challenging time, which is affecting your concentration, memory, and self-confidence. These reactions are understandable after conflicts and emotional distress. To overcome this, try to give yourself some time to process your feelings and consider talking to someone you trust or a counselor about what you're experiencing. Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness to help calm your mind. Setting small, achievable goals for your studies can also help rebuild your confidence gradually. Remember, it's important to be kind to yourself and recognize that everyone faces setbacks; what's important is how you work to move forward. Seeking support from a mental health professional can provide you with strategies to cope better, regain focus, and rebuild your self-esteem. You're not alone, and help is available to guide you through this difficult period.
