You should get it done only if an imaging test clearly shows a blockage in one or both of your fallopian tubes. The procedure is most successful when the blockage is in the part of the tube closest to uterus. During the same surgery it can be confirmed whether the block has been cleared or not. After opening the block in the fallopian tubes, you may get pregnant normally. Some doctors recommend to undergo this procedure before you decide to go for expensive treatments like IVF (in vitro fertilization).
