Enlarged Nostrils
I see my son who is 9 years old finds difficult to breathe sometimes during day and during night he inhales through mouth sometimes he complains he is finding difficult to breathe through nose. I don't know if it is enlarged nostrils but when I look into his nose I see it is red and swollen .my husband has the same issues.

Enlarged adenoids can be the reason. Whatever u are seeing in the nose is the turbinates that all human being have unless someone surgeon has removed them. They are normal. Get an Endoscopy or a x-ray to confirm adenoids enlargement
