Your child needs the adenoid and tonsillar tissues to main his immune functions for the first 3 years of life. Thereafter, they regress and disappear by the 5th year. However, some dangerous germs tend to colonise these tissues by creating a biofilm shield around them which cannot be penetrated by conventional antibiotics and these cause the pathological enlargement of the adenoid and tonsillar tissues. These are practically like ticking time-bombs, as these germs can invade visceral tissues like kidneys and heart causing catastrophic consequences and so must be removed.
Next Steps
Get a digital X-RAY of your child's nasopharynx in lateral view with soft tissue enhancement. If the adenoid enlargement is significant, meet an ENT Surgeon equapped with a Coblation System or Lasers to remove both adenoids and tonsils
