Yes, asafoetida is one of the best remedies for gas and burping.
You may take asafoetida 200 - 4 pills - thrice a day and see the result in 2 days.
Other remedies for gas and burping are nux vomica, carbo veg, china, lycopodium and many others.
I would suggest you to take nux vomica 200 - 4 pills - thrice a day for 2 days instead of asafoetida(because it is deeper acting remedy)
