Effect of Spironolactone on PCOS Tests
CONTEXT: To determine whether I have PCOS, I've been told to get certain blood tests [including for testosterone] and a pelvic ultrasound on day 2/3 of my next period. I've been on spironolactone for 5 years now as it keeps my skin acne-free -- it's the only medication that's worked for me long-term. Q: Do I need to stop taking spironolactone for a certain amount of time to get an accurate ultrasound & accurate blood tests [since I believe spironolactone lowers the level of testosterone the body naturally makes]?
