Early stage Autism symptoms
Can someone brief us some basic autism symptoms to be observed in 18month old baby boy.My son doing side glancing occasionally and consulted a ophthalmologist.As per him there is nothing wrong with eyes developed as of now but can't tell anymore until he turns 3Y.Somewhere I read that side glancing is one of the autism sign.so wanted to rule out with other symptoms if any are correlating with. Thank you

Hi. It’s wonderful ands thing to be appreciated that you are looking out for early signs of autism. You must look for the following: Does the child call out for parents (appa or amma) meaningfully with eye contact? Does the child point out with index finger whatever he or she needs Does the child have good eye contact and looks at you in the eye wherever they speak to you or you speak to them Does the child have increased / decreased sensitivity to heating or touch

Eye contact, this is most important. Others are not responding to their name, not smiling back, repetitive movements, less interaction withother children, not doing much pretend play, repeating same phrases, rigid in behavior
