From your history of blood stained ear discharge, I would like to concur with your ENT Surgeon's advise that you need a Mastoido-Tympanoplasty surgery. This is routinely done surgery at most centers. At first the disease is drilled out of the mastoid bone and later the ossicular chain reconstruction is done and finally a new ear drum is grafted on underneath the remnants of the old eardrum.
Post-op care is most important in this surgery for best results. Meticulously follow your surgeon's instructions and you will recover in about 3-4 weeks time.
