My father has got stroke 2 months back (he is a cardiac patient too ) and he has difficulty in swallowing currently he is fed through rylsetube what kind of foods can be given to him orally.

Initially you can give him some honey
If he is tasting it and if there is no cough
Then try some semisolid consistency foods
The at the end try liquids as they are the most difficult to swallow in these type of cases

if he has dysphagia, he needs ryles tube feeds only. if oral feeds are given he can aspirate into his chest and lead to aspiration pneumonia..may be in a few months time, we can give a trial of oral feeds under supervision
