Hello. Exposure to cement dust increases the risk of development of lung cancer. The risk increases with the increase in years of work. If an average person has 1% risk of developing lung cancer, in cement factory workers, the risk rises to 1.4%. In a Korean study, out of 2500 cement factory workers, total 120 developed some type of cancer, 38 developed lung cancer. Try and reduce exposure to dust by putting on a protective mask at all times covering your nose and mouth. Also keep away from tobacco in any form including bidi, cigarettes and you should be fine. Hope this helps. Thanks.
Next Steps
Avoid exposure to dust, smoke and tobacco. Annual low dose Chest CT for screening.
