Dryness and cracks on nipples

Asked for Female, 24 Years

I am experiencing dryness and cracks on my nipples from a few weeks. sometimes they hurt and bleed. I started applying boroline/lotions. so now its better. but i want to know why is this happening? because it never happened in the past.
