Female, married May 2026. Father died Feb 2026; had first episode (seizure-like) during his funeral — no prior history. Recurrent episodes since (twice this week): unresponsiveness, jaw/teeth clenching and grinding, limbs stiff, alternating laughing/crying, vocalizing including referring to herself as "Nirmala," eyes open with occasional interaction with others, once angry expression, no memory afterward. Also unprovoked daytime teeth grindingy once reported seeing "something in white" separately from episodes. Background: unresolved grief since father's death, married three months later, ongoing stress and poor sleep. Diagnosed by a psychiatrist two days ago as "hysteria" (dissociative/conversion-type). Video of latest episode available.

The picture fits dissociative (non-epileptic) seizures triggered by unresolved grief, exactly as your psychiatrist said. Eyes open, laughing/crying, no post-episode confusion and clear emotional triggers all go against true epilepsy. Still, since this is the first year of episodes, I would get one EEG and an MRI brain done once to close the epilepsy question, plus haemoglobin, thyroid, calcium and vitamin B12. Treatment here is not anti-epileptics but structured psychotherapy (CBT/grief work) with the psychiatrist, regular sleep and someone with her during an episode - no crowding, no water splashing. Take her to a hospital right away if an episode lasts beyond 10-15 minutes, she injures herself, bites her tongue, passes urine or stays drowsy after. Send me the episode video and reports on a Practo consult and I will go through them with you.
Description of the above person, most likely psychiatry related, hysteria and psychogenic hyperventilation. She needs a proper psychiatrist evaluation combined with clinical psychologist sessions to come out of the grief she's been going through
Ma'am as per the Symtpoms it's more likely the psychiatrist has evaluated and diagnosed it correctly .However careful recording of episode after watching the episode by close family members would help .
It is a dissociative /conversion disorder and it needs further evaluation
