My pet was playing with my son and bit his legs while playing. I gave the 1st dose but my son fell very sick after that. Now he has rash and cough and is not even eating well. Shall I still continue with the vaccination? The dog is all normal so far

Please give the complete rabies vaccination done. There is no problem if it is a little late. There is no cure for rabies if it starts. Home pets can also transmit rabies.

You should not stop the post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) series without consulting a doctor, as rabies carries a near 100% fatality rate once clinical symptoms manifest. Emergency medical evaluation is urgently needed to check the child's airway, manage his symptoms, and safely coordinate the remaining vaccine doses under controlled medical supervision. Please take your son to the nearest pediatric emergency department or health clinic immediately, and remember to bring the specific rabies vaccine vial label or brand documentation with you so the doctors can verify its exact ingredients.

At least 3-4 doses of vaccination should be completed before you discontinue. If child is sick consult a Pediatrician but don’t discontinue vaccination before 10-14 days of the bite. If the dog is receiving annual vaccination it may be safe. But vaccination for the kid is very important. There is no cure only prevention in the form of vaccination is the best in case of dog bites

Continue vaccination as per schedule. Mild fever, rash, cough, reduced appetite, or an intercurrent viral infection are usually not reasons to stop rabies vaccination.
Even if the dog appears healthy, do not stop the rabies vaccine series on your own.
Since the child is now unwell and has developed a rash, he should be examined by your treating pediatrician to determine whether this is related to a viral illness or another cause. Also ensure the wound is healing properly.
