I has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (BPAD) with no medical history from family.
In 2017, Due to Family & Financial issue, I had mania episode with Screaming, Feeling energetic, Creative, On top of world with reduced sleep & later I came in depression from then with symptoms like crying, overthinking, feeling sad for someone, Feeling hopeless like being an graduate people not giving opportunity for job, Depressed.
Currently I'm on medication like Lithosum 300mg, Oxetol 300mg, Olimelt 2.5mg, Prodep 10mg.
But I don't like to take Lithosum tablets & off from last 6-8months but doing extremely well.
I want to get off those medication because my parents are planning to get me married.
Will I be able to survive without medicine & will be there any future problems like pregnancy & genetic passing these disorder to child.
I'm very much worried about it & don't want to waste someone's life.
Because I have read on internet during pregnancy also Bipolar Disorder can trigger.

Dear Madam
It appears that you are scared of this disorder. You are not alone, there are many successful people who are suffering from this problem such as Shama Sikandar, Honey Singh. Many people are suffered from depression as well such as Manisha Koirala, Shahrukh Khan,Deepika Padukone, Anuska Sharma, Varun Dhawan, Randeep Hooda are few to name. Major problem in India is stgma about mental illness that once it happens it makes people mad and they can not live a normal life. Indian Psychiatric society is fighting with this stgma with an NGO called Live Love, Lough Foundation of Deepika Padukone. Many activities is going on including matrimonial site to help people with mental illness.
What I believe is you can live a normal life, can do anything in life like any other normal person that also includes marriage. Only thing needed is protective medication. Patient is given medication despite they remain alright is to protect them from further episode in lower dose. Grossly speaking, if patients are not treated than one third of patient don't relapse at all, while one third will relapse on and off while other one third may experience regular symptoms. Since it is very difficult to predict who will relapse when, regular medication is prescribed for protection usually after second episode. A trial of free of medication is tried after first or subsequent episode if doctors find risk of relapse is less.
Transmission of this illness to offsprings is not hundred percent. I have many patients with this illness who married having children and doing well. However, decision for marriage is a personal matter, and I believe you are a better person to decide about it, and everybody should respect it. What my patients have done and I also advise is first be financially independent like any other person, remain stable for few years learn to manage you illness (that can be taught by any psychiatrist) than go for marriage. Disclosing illness is prime important, particularly with the help of psychiatrist. During pregnancy medication is either changed or dose is reduced to ensure safety of baby, and monitoring is available to ascertain that baby is alright.
For some patients this illness is like hypertension or diabetes that requires regular treatment, but as a psychiatrist I would suggest that follow the course of medication, ask what precaution should be taken from your doctors and what can you do to prevent relapse. At this moment it is difficult to say whether illness will release or not in you.
Be safe, remain healthy.

✓ Genetic transmission of Bipolar disorder to child is possible but not a 100%.

Your concerns are genuine but you have to understand that having a mental illness is not your fault going off medication earlier than recommended treatment duration can be problematic in future ,if you can find a partner who can be with you in thick and thin he will understand what needed to be done as long as you are true to them (eg if you had illness after your marriage or some accident god forbid) this isn't what can be controlled. As far as genetic goes yes there are chances of transmission but not always it will happen you vant predict your or your partner's genetic outcomes
Next Steps
be true to your partner in future , stick to treatment recommendation, learn better about your illness
