Diabetes is not a disease. but it is a metabolic disorder.It can be controlled by Regular exercise like walking,cycling,playing tennis or badminton..
Diet control which includes eating in small amounts at regular intervals rather than eating
Medicines prescribed by your doctor.
1. Exercise : Never go for exercise on empty stomach.Have a cup of milk or coffee or tea without
sugar or two slices of brown bread.Walk in the early morning sun to avoid Vit D3 deficiency
Walk at least for. half an hour.If you are not used for exercise start off slowly with 5 min & slowly as hear should get adjusted to the exercise..Increase daily by 5 min.& once you reach 1/2 hr increase the speed and then regularly go for a brisk walk.If you have any low sugar symptoms like excess sweating than usual,feeling weak or any palpitations, immediately stop walking and go home and immediately have something. Stop walking if you have any chest pain,breathlessnesss,dragging pain of your left hand or left little finger or jaw pain immediately see a cardiologist.
2 Diet should include Breakfast which includes 2 or 3 idlis, 2 dosa,2 roti or 11/2 cup upma.Avoid coconut & groundnut chutneys. Lunch with 80 gms of raw rice or 2 roti 1/2 cup of rice,with lots of curry. U can have all varieties of vegetables except tubers like potato,sweet potato,yam,colocasia,More of leafy vegetables atleast 3 - 4 times a week.
Nonveg : Egg white,chicken,fish
Restrict oil by 1/2 litre per person per month.Change the oils like sunflower,groundnut,ricebran,safflower,mustard,sesame oils,
Avoid fats like ghee butter,cream,,redmeat.
Eat lots of vegetable salads, fruits in between meals along with a glass of buttermilk.
Snacks in between meals like sprouts,oats,cornflakes,murmuras,poha etc
3.Medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
Never skip either exercise,diet or medicines.
Diabetes. can be easily controlled if you follow the above.If you take care of it it will take care of you, if you neglect it, it will eat you away as it is a silent killer
