Diabetic Consultation on medicine
Hi my mother is diabetic but she refuses to take medicine because she is a depression patient also. We are giving glavusmet and glyciphage initially. Can you suggest any syrup or any alternative way of giving medicine such as crushing tablet and mixing in her foods or tea. Would it work. Her sugar level last checked was approx 300 non fasting.

We are talking about 2 things here Depression & Diabetes Is she under a psychiatrist. Why is she depressed needs exploring From diabetes point of view monitor sugars closely atleast 2 times daily. If she is eating reasonably then one can give oral medications which don’t cause low sugars. At present she needs sugar control.
Next Steps
Please contact your diabetologist locally who can guide you with safe medications Thanks
