Hi, consult a psychiatrist and explain about your fathers condition. It looks like your father is suffering from depression and anxiety. It will be good if you can consult a psychiatrist who can help your father. Counseling is also effective in treating depression and anxiety. I recommend that you first consult a psychiatrist and then consider Counseling.

Hey, thank you for reaching out. I understand how difficult this can be for you right now. What your father is going through can be due to the grief of losing his mother. Bereavement can lead to feelings of confusion, bouts of forgetfulness, anxiety, and disorientation. To overcome the feeling of anxiety, your father can try the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to feel more connected to the present. You can also guide him using various breathing techniques like the Box Breathing Method and the 4-7-8 Method when he feels very anxious. He can write down his tasks on a sheet of paper to avoid forgetting when he has multiple tasks on his To-Do List.
Next Steps
The above mentioned tips can help your father deal with it presently but consider taking him for therapy. It can help him process his emotions and grieve, and it is also ideal to help him communicate and adopt strategies effective for him.
