Hello Ma'am, A missing tooth or a tooth that has to be removed soon can be replaced by three methods: 1. Removable tooth which takes support from a plastic (acrylic) plate like in a denture. 2. Fixed tooth by a bridge, which takes support from two adjacent teeth to replace one tooth. 3. Fixed tooth by an Implant which is made up of titanium alloy, it acts like a root of a natural tooth over which an artificial tooth is placed without cutting adjacent teeth like in case of a dental bridge. Dental implant is a method of rehabilitation of already missing tooth or a tooth to be removed soon. This is a simple procedure even simpler than a tooth removal procedure. An experienced doctor can place an implant in 15-20 minutes. This procedure is of two types: 1. Immediate implants: they are placed immediately after tooth removal. 2. Delayed implants: They are placed ~3 months after tooth removal. Doctor decides between immediate or delayed implants depending upon bone health, patient's health conditions and extent of an old tooth infection. Regards Dr. Pratap Saini
