Hello Dear,
Having proper diet is the only sure way to increase the platelet count. Repeat the platelet count again after a week.

I can understand your concern.
having platelets of only 40000 is a very risky thing and the patient needs hospitalization.
without wasting time i would suggest you to take the patient to a hospital and consult a MD consultant physician in person for further evaluation and management.
