If still having:
• frequent dysentery
• persistent blood
• fever
• abdominal pain/tenesmus
then pediatric review and possibly changing/narrowing antibiotic based on local sensitivity/clinical judgment is more appropriate than continuing prolonged ofloxacin-metronidazole blindly.
Please take an opinion from a pediatric gastroenterologist or senior pediatrician. As bleeding is continuing, we have to investigate further and watch for complications
Hi lo
Stool test showing already dangerous bacteria Shigella and E.coli for which already taken Antibiotic DIOS DS 5ml for 8 days
Still no improvement means You need consult physically with Pediatrician
Urgently take to hospital
Greetings
As bloody stools lasting 8 days place him at high risk for severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, or hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).Potential causes for these symptoms include Shigella infection, Enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC), or Enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC).Primary management strategies require targeted antibiotic therapy based on local susceptibility, continuous oral rehydration solutions (ORS) to prevent fluid loss, and zinc supplementation. Please stop administering Dios DS or any other antimotility medications right away, as stopping bowel movements can dangerously trap bacterial toxins inside his digestive tract. If you notice extreme lethargy, persistent vomiting, or a sudden decrease in urination, please take him to the nearest pediatric emergency room immediately.
