I used to be a smoker, light though (1-3 cigarettes a day), for 3 years but I quit 3 months ago. However there is a constant sensation of cough in my throat which won't go away. I don't cough very often and no phlegm comes out even if I try but I keep on feeling the urge to clear my throat. How to get rid of this?
Thanks in advance.

It's basically a type of allergies. You can use Luke warm water for drink and do gargle with plain saly water.
Also you can try T. Allegra 180 for 15 days daily 1 in night.
