Hello, I understand your concern
Common causes for such episode include:
Post-viral Cough – Common after a cold, can last 2–3 weeks.
Allergic Rhinitis – Especially if associated with nasal congestion, sneezing, or clear discharge.
Asthma or Airway Hyperreactivity – If there’s a wheeze, nighttime cough, or activity-induced cough.
GERD (Acid reflux) – If associated with throat clearing, hoarseness, or cough after lying down.
Environmental irritants – Like dust, smoke, or strong odors.
Since your child had tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy last year, it’s unlikely the current cough is directly related to that surgery. A loud cough is often due to upper respiratory infection, postnasal drip, or airway sensitivity, and not necessarily a serious issue.
Next Steps
Ensure adequate hydration.
Use saline nasal spray or mild steam inhalation (under supervision).
Avoid exposure to dust, smoke, and perfumes.
Monitor for signs of recurrence of snoring or mouth breathing.
Health Tips
Red flags:
Cough lasting >3 weeks
Fever, weight loss, or breathing difficulty
Persistent night cough or wheeze
Foul breath, nasal discharge, or snoring again (may suggest regrowth or chronic sinusitis)
