A 6 year old baby with hypertrophied adenoids and tonsils with stuffy nose can dealt with by administering saline nasal drops or intranasal corticosteroid spray. But if the baby is a snorer and a mouth breather or has repeated ear infections, then the baby may require surgery to remove the adenoids.
