My one-year-old has a cough and a fever. How can I tell if the cough is serious? He has no diarrhea, but his breathing seems off.

If the breathings seems off you mist visist your pediatrician or atleast have online consultation. This might be a serious problem. He needs to be assesed with a stethoscope.
