Continuous hiccups
My dad has continous hiccups from last 24 hours and it's continous and not stopping. He had little fever however he doesn't have it now. As he has celebral atrophy for 10 yrs i am a bit concerned. Hiccup in an elderly patient, we need to rule out electrolyte disturbance like Hyponatremia which is very common cause.
Kindly do not delay, take him to a physician near by for physical examination, the serum electrolytes check up and get an appropriate treatment.
Once the electrolytes are corrected, hiccups will stop.
There are also other causes of hiccups in elderly with various co-morbidoties, which can be ruled out only after a physician examines the patient.
