Constipation and bloating
Hi Sir/Ma'am, For the past 10 days, i have been very feeling bloated at the upper abdomen with constant gas release. Also, I have been feeling constipated for a week as well with low bowel movement. I have increased fiber intake and been drinking a lot of fluids for the last 3 days.  Still feeling the same and now am feeling sluggish as well. Need advice for the next steps Thank you

Bloating and constipation like this are often due to diet change, gas buildup, or sluggish gut movement—sudden increase in fiber can actually worsen bloating initially. Try light meals, warm fluids, gentle walking, and avoid heavy/gassy foods for now. Please consult me so I can assess properly and guide treatment to relieve this safely.

This could be due to many causes. A proper history taking session will lead to better outcomes for you rather than polypharmacy. All the best.

Dear Patient, Your symptoms of upper abdominal bloating, excessive gas, constipation, and sluggishness for the last 10 days are most commonly due to a gut motility disturbance, dietary factors, or temporary indigestion. Stress, irregular meals, low physical activity, or sudden increase in fiber can also worsen bloating initially. What You Should Do Continue adequate fluids (2.5–3 liters/day) Do daily walking 30–40 minutes (very important for bowel movement) Take warm water in morning (can add lemon) Avoid gas-forming foods: beans, cabbage, cauliflower, fried food, excess tea/coffee, carbonated drinks Medicines That help • Isabgol (psyllium husk) 1–2 teaspoons at night with warm water • Polyethylene glycol / Lactulose syrup at bedtime if constipation persists • Simethicone + digestive enzyme tablets for gas relief • If upper abdominal heaviness present → Pantoprazole or Rabeprazole before breakfast for 5–7 days Evaluation May Be Needed if • Symptoms lasting more than 2–3 weeks • Severe abdominal pain • Vomiting, weight loss, or blood in stool • Persistent constipation despite medicines If symptoms continue,  thyroid test, blood sugar, or abdominal evaluation depending on history. For further guidance and personalized treatment plan, you can text me anytime.
