I would not recommend looking at the sun directly as the UV rays can have a multitude of harmful effects on your eyes. Please check to see if you have an uncorrected refractive error. These at times increase the ocular aberrations resulting in such symptoms. Mild forms of ocular dryness can cause the same symptoms.
