Pain, redness, swelling around anus, bleeding, foul smelling pus discharge or fever are some of the most common symptoms of anal fistula. But you need to get diagnosed properly by a doctor before arriving at something. Other causes can be anal fissure or haemorrhoids (piles) as they both can cause discomfort and pain while sitting, walking or passing hard stools.

Anal Fistula is an abnormal tube like passage (communication) between the interior of the anal canal (or rectum) and the outer skin surface around the anus. One opening of the fistula (Internal opening) is inside the anus (or rectum) and another opening ( External opening) is on skin surface around the anus. A tube like structure (Fistula track) connect them. Anal fistulas commonly occur due to an anal abscess. An abscess is a collection of pus and infected fluid. An anal fistula is a tunnel that runs from inside the anus -- the hole your body uses to get rid of solid waste -- to somewhere in the skin around it. It usually follows an infection that didn’t heal the right way. Generally there is no pain unless n until there is some abscess. Main causes of anal pain are piles n fissure
