Motion sickness is caused due to mismatch signals by ears and eyes that go to the brain. It is usually helped by closing the eyes, keeping the person hydrated and eating only small meals during travel. However in most cases medication such as benadryl or Phenargan is needed. These medications have their own set of side effects and in children their dose should be adjusted as per weight.
Next Steps
Consult with a doctor with weight if baby and other history to help determine exact dose
Motion sickness in babies is common, especially during road travel. For vomiting, you can consider Ondansetron (as prescribed by a doctor)âa safe antiemetic often used in kids.
Other useful tips:
Keep the babyâs head stable and face forward during travel.
Avoid heavy meals before the trip.
Use car shades and good ventilation.
If the child is over 2 years, Domperidone or Promethazine may also be suggested under medical guidance.
