Cluster of Calcifications
Hi , my mother got her mamogram and ultrasound done. Mamogram showed cluster of calcification on left breast and few microcalcification on right breast. Birad 4 advised MRI Ultrasound shows hypoechoic lesion on left and right breast almost 12×4mm and 8mm×5mm. She has too much anxiety and assumed its cancer possible fibroadenoma. The doctor said we cant take biopsy as there is no lump visible on ultrasound and only shows fibroadenoma so lets wait for 3 months and repeat the ultrasound again and the calcifications are likely due to fibroadenoma. Please advise if this is the right approach

Unlike other cancers, breast cancers don't produce tumor markers at early stages....A BI-RADS 4 rating means an abnormality is suspicious and a tissue biopsy is needed. Most BI-RADS 4 lesions turn out to be benign (non-cancerous), but a biopsy is the only way to know for sure. Hypoechoic lesion is almost 1.2cm (12mm) which can easily be taken up by FNAC or biopsy. Either get a biopsy or PET CT

Calcification  means  dead tissue. Biopsy of hyperechoic tissue is advisable

Yes, its right ,because birad 4 is unconfirmatory and suspicious stage and no lump , so without lump or mass ,how to take biopsy. And without biopsy no one can tell about that's carcinoma or benign. So wait .

BI-RADS 4 means the finding is suspicious, but not cancer-confirmed. Calcifications can be benign, but their pattern matters. Please get the mammogram reviewed by a breast radiologist. A biopsy may be required depending on the calcification pattern. No need to panic, but don’t delay the recommended evaluation.
