Circular Patch in beard
Hi, My brother is 23 year old and has circular patch in beard on right side. He has dense dark beard and doesn't have any patch in other areas. We consulted a dermatologist and he said he has Alopecia Areata Barbae. He told that the only solution is hair transplant and there is no other diagnosis. He also told that doctors will prescribe you Cortisone and minoxidil which have show results rarely and have more side effects. I am scared and totally confused what to do

Hi! Thanks for your query. Alopecia areata is an immune mediated condition. It usually tends to recover with conventional treatment like application of creams etc. and the hair growth is there, albeit may take time. You can visit a qualified Dermatologist personally or consult on practo consult direct  with clinical photographs for personalised treatment
Next Steps
As per my opinion since it is an immune mediated condition, hair transplant may preferably be avoided.
