Chronic throat clearing
Dear Sir/Ma'am, My father is having problem of throat clearing since last 8 months after one or two hour of meal or anytime for a short time. This is not through out the day but for one or two hours. It is not dark yellow mucus but a spit in throat or food pipe that needs to be clear. He already have taken cough syrup and medicine but no cure till date. Plz help if someone know what is the problem.

It could be due to acid reflux. Get him evaluated for acid reflux by gastroenterologist and also by pulmonologist for any other cause of cough. A nasolaryngoscopy will also be helpful.

Its probably a globus pharyngeus which feels like something in the throat and which needs keeps clearing the throat especially in the mornings. It may be due to reflux of gastric content what we call LPR. U need to have a thorough consultation on video or physically to properly diagnose the problem and treat it. Cough syp etc will not help it. U give a medicine Rabeprazole plus levosulpride empty stomach in the morning, half hour before breakfast.
