I can offer you some general suggestions for managing chronic and recurrent anal fissures:
1. Fiber-rich diet: You mentioned already making some dietary changes, such as eating salads and leafy vegetables. Ensuring an adequate intake of dietary fiber can help soften the stool and ease bowel movements. Consider incorporating high-fiber foods like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables into your diet.
2. Sitz baths: Taking warm baths or sitz baths can help relieve pain and promote healing. Fill a bathtub or basin with warm water and sit in it for 10-15 minutes several times a day.
3. Topical treatments: Your gastroenterologist prescribed Anoblis ointment, which is commonly used to reduce pain and promote healing of anal fissures. Follow the instructions provided by your doctor and continue using the ointment for the recommended duration.
4. Stool softeners or laxatives: If your stool remains hard and difficult to pass, your doctor might suggest a stool softener or laxative to make bowel movements more comfortable.
Topical applications such as calcium channel blockers or nitrates to help relax the sphincter muscle and improve blood flow to the area, promoting healing.
