My mother is having chronic dry cough , I have been seeing her coughing since many years now, She is a SMOKER, Her cough increases when she comes in cold air like AC, Freeze air , Etc, She also dont eat anything cold ever, What is this problem known as And what is the treatment for this ?

The problem is called COPD.Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Get her x-ray chest done. See the hyperinflation of lung. If had an history 10+ years then change is going to be irreversible. She had to stop smoking

Does she wheeze while coughing? Does cough increase during winter or any particular season? Is cough associated with fever? Is there history of weight loss? Is cough dry or wet? Need detail history for proper evaluation
