Chronic calf muscle pain
Dear Doctor , Since last 7/8 yrs I am having consistent continuous severe pain in my calf muscles . I even consulted a doctor for it , which diagnosed vitamin d deficiency , and after takeing vitamin D supplements , that has also been brought to normal level . All other test - thyroid , LFT , KFT , USG whole abdomen , CBC , 2D echo , are Normal . Except slightly higher cholesterol . My BP is normal . I have sound sleeping habit . But this continuous calf pain is worrying me all the time . Plz advise some possible reasons for this and it's remedial action . Regards Saurabh Thakur

Slight high colesterol at this age usually dont lead to narrowing of blood vessels..As you are telling all other reports are normal. I would like to know what is your occupation and you are smoker or not? Do you need to stand or sit for long hours? Do you lead a very sedentary lifestyle and obese? These may lead to decrease in blood circulation or venous return of blood in lower limb. Also you can have this problem if your hydration is not ok.though for this reason unlikely to stay for 7-8yrs. Another possibility is you have some kind of vasculitis or arterial narrowing which needs details of evaluation and some investigation.
Next Steps
take care of hydration. do some exercise specially stretching. have good diet. avoid smoking.(both active and passive)
Health Tips
if no improvement after doing exercises then go for lower limb Doppler study.
