Chemotherapy treatment alternative
My grandfather is 70 years old. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer stage-3 in august. He is a patient of diabetes, hypertension and survical. He had two sessions of IV chemotherapy treatment. The second chemotherapy was on 2nd September. After second chemotherapy he had complications and got very ill so he couldn't be given next session of chemotherapy. Still he is very weak and unable to walk by himself. Presently his haemoglobin is 9 gm and weight is 55kg. The doctor has told that next session of chemotherapy is risky as he is weak. Please suggest some alternative treatment. Whether oral chemotherapy is an option or not.

Is her 2 neu done on biopsy? If positive, then her targeted therapy can be done which is well tolerated even in elderly people.

Stage 3 stomach cancer other than chemotherapy we don't have any other option( like immunotherapy or targeted therapy can be tried in stage 4 stomach cancer). Oral chemotherapy agents like capecitabine or tegafur+uracil can be tried ( but oral chemotherapy also produce side effects in some cancer patients). Please discuss in your oncologist regarding the options.
