Hey, what was the trigger. Why did u vomit blood? Any chest x ray or endoscopy? Kindly consult with me on 94 two six eight six 78 nine six for proper diagnosis and treatment.
If ur dysphagia is resolved now it is least likely to be a esophageal cancerand also with one episode of vomiting blood.as u have gastritis for 1yr,it is most like to be GERD,which triggered vomiting and forceful vomiting cause tear in lower esophagus cause blood.
Next Steps
kindly regularize ur diet
never use salty and spicy food
kindly go through upper endoscopy
use PPIs regularly for 1 month with iron tabs
The question Of chances of getting cancer cannot be answered easily it takes lot of investigations and proper detailed history to diagnose a cancer. And in ur case ur complaints are consistent with gastric esophageal reflux causing acid reflux which might have developed into esophagitis or may be ulcer that could explain ur bleed . but again everything needs to be confirmed after a detailed examination and few investigations.cannot come to a conclusion without examination.
First of all and foremost just be assured. No, you don't have any cancer. Your heartburn is Peptic ulcer Disease which sometimes causes bleeding in stomach and manifest as bleeding from mouth or during vomiting. Be assured. But for this you need a specific course of medications for 3-4 weeks. Book consult for your treatment plan.
Hi — thank you for explaining your symptoms so clearly. I understand your worry, especially after vomiting blood and having heartburn and swallowing difficulty. Let’s go over this carefully
What your symptoms suggest
Based on what you’ve described —
Heartburn for a year
Occasional swallowing difficulty
Cough at night
One-time vomiting of blood
— this picture is most consistent with severe acid reflux (GERD) or esophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe), not cancer.
Here’s why:
Esophageal cancer at 26 years is extremely rare, especially in non-smokers, non-drinkers, and vegetarians.
GERD can cause long-standing acid injury to the esophagus, leading to ulcers, which may bleed and cause pain or temporary swallowing difficulty.
The night cough and throat irritation occur due to acid reflux reaching the throat (called laryngo-pharyngeal reflux).
So the most likely diagnosis is acid reflux–related esophagitis or ulceration, not malignancy.
Next steps to confirm and treat
To be absolutely safe, you should undergo a simple endoscopy (Upper GI endoscopy) — it will clearly show if there’s an ulcer, gastritis, or reflux injury.
It’s a short, 5-minute procedure and helps rule out anything serious with certainty.
Treatment plan (most patients recover fully with this)
1. Tab Nexpro 40 mg (Esomeprazole) – once daily 30 min before breakfast for 4 weeks.
2. Syrup Mucaine Gel / Digene – 2 tsp after lunch and dinner for 10 days.
3. Diet precautions:
Avoid spicy, oily, citrus, tomato, coffee, chocolate, and mint.
Do not lie down for 2 hours after eating.
Sleep with head elevated on 1–2 pillows.
4. Lifestyle:
Avoid late-night eating, stress, and tight clothing.
Maintain ideal weight and regular light exercise.
Usually, within 2–3 weeks, heartburn, cough, and pain settle completely once acid control is achieved.
When to recheck
If you have any of the following, do not delay endoscopy:
Repeated vomiting of blood
Worsening pain or difficulty swallowing
Weight loss or black stools
Even then, the cause is usually reflux ulcer or gastritis, both of which are treatable.
Reassurance
You’re doing everything right by seeking medical advice early. Given your age, healthy diet, and non-smoking lifestyle, the chance of esophageal cancer is extremely low (<0.01%). With proper acid suppression and care, this can be completely cured and prevented from recurring.
I can help you design a personalized anti-reflux plan — including medication schedule, diet chart, and when to safely stop medicines — after checking a few details like your meal pattern and sleep routine.
