Cataract surgery while on aspirin
The patient experienced a mild stroke with microhemorrhage in late August 2023, requiring hospitalization for treatment. Prior to the stroke, a cataract surgery was scheduled for September, but it has been postponed due to the recent medical event. The patient is currently in a good condition. However, he is still on aspirin therapy. Upon consultation, a neurosurgeon advised against proceeding with cataract surgery while the patient is on aspirin. Given the patient's urgent need for cataract surgery, the question arises whether it can be safely performed while the patient is on aspirin or if it must be delayed until aspirin therapy is discontinued. Please help us!

If the cataract needs urgent surgery, you can go for it with slightly higher risks as compared to those individuals who are not on aspirin. Your operating surgeon will explain you in detail. Asprin, I suppose will be given for long duration. So lingering on an urgent surgery might not be a good option.
