Cataract in both eyes
My mother, 65 years old ,has cataract in both her ,it seems to be severe in the right eye but has just started in the left eye .she has blurred vision most of the times especially while reading ,she is a little apprehensive to operation because of her diabetes,kindly suggest the best possible treatment for cataract removal.

Hi. If the diagnosis of cataract has been confirmed and her cataract does interfere in her daily activities, it maybe ready for surgery.
Prerequisite for surgery is adequate control of Diabetes. So if its controlled, there really isnt much to worry about.
Briefly, there are a few ways to operate upon the cataract.
Phacoemulsification is the commonest and most used method nowadays. femto second phacoemulsification is also done.
Older methods like Small incision cataract surgery and extracapsular cataract extraction are rarely done nowadays.

1st operation is necessary. 2nd diabetes has to be under control before operation. 3rd.phacoemulcification it the most appropriate procedure to be adopted. 4th centre and surgeon you may choose.
