Can oral-l tabletbe used to avoid period

Hi my fiance was suggested by someone to take oral L tablet during her periods as she wanted to attend some janmashtmi pooja..and she took 3 of them.. now today she is feeling painin her stomach..Is that the right thing she has done bcoz I found that it is a contraceptive pill and used to avoid pregnancy..I just want to make sure..please advice.
