Can I take statin?
Doctor, I have been taking medication for about three months; my lipid levels drop but then rise again. When I take the medicine, the levels go down, but then they shoot back up. I just had a test done; please check th e report. I am 39 years old, 5'11" tall, and weigh 89 kg. What should I do? I am very worried. Total Cholesterol: 251 Triglycerides: 183 HDL: 56 LDL: 149 Please advise—is this very dangerous?

Your medication has to be decided on many other parameters besides lipid profiles alone. You should be consulting a physician for future treatment regarding statins.

Adjustment to the statin dose or addition of another lipid-lowering medicine if needed. * Evaluation for secondary causes such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, liver disease, or a familial cholesterol disorder. * A repeat fasting lipid profile in 6–12 weeks after consistent treatment. This report is concerning but not very dangerous in the short term. With consistent medication and lifestyle changes, these cholesterol levels can usually be brought under good control.
