Can diabetic patients use Liv52 syrup?
My father (aged 62) is a diabetic. I have started observing that he's becoming too thin day by day and he's completely losing his appetite. He also suffers from indigestion problem. I was told Liv 52 syrup can help increase appetite and weight gain. But I'm concerned whether a diabetic patient can use this. Also, request any suggestions to overcome the above stated concerns. Thanks much!

Diabetes when uncontrolled can cause weight loss, tiredness, weakness, lethargy, polyuria and polyphagia. So first of all I would make sure that his sugars are under control. Again there are many reasons for indigestion including long term diabetes causing diabetic gastropathy. So better to evaluate the causes before going to treatment it self. Liv 52 is a syrupy which is only used in few conditions again I wouldn’t recommend it before making sure what is the exact problem.
Next Steps
General investigation, get sugars under control

Hello.. There are multiple causes of decreased appetite and wt loss in diabetes right from medications to catabolic state due to hyperglycemia... I personally can not comment on Liv 52 as it is herbal product,, usully used in anorexia and for helping to decrease liver enzymes in hepatic patients. Plz consult good endocrinologist physically for histoy and examination and if needed further investigations..!!
