Bump on Tailbone

I have recently noticed I have a red/pink pink bump on my tailbone. I have looked up other cases of this and it is said to be called an Pilonidal Cyst, but I don't think my bump is a Pilonidal Cyst. The bump seems to be under my skin, and it hurts to touch and sit on it. Is my bump serious or just a bruise on the bone, and is there anyways that would avoid it happening again. Also, how can I avoid the bump hurting?
