A few days before Thanksgiving, a tooth of mine broke. I have an appointment for an extraction on December 26th, but I have been having a lot of discomfort in my jaw on that side, and mild nausea. There is rarely any pain from the tooth itself, so I don't believe the nerve is exposed. But I'm concerned that since it happened after coming home from the doctor and testing negative for strep, but having a bad viral cold, there is a chance the tooth is infected. Would a Z-Pack kill the infection?

Tooth might be infected ... you should get an IOPA X-ray done for that tooth , for a clear picture of periapical infection nd you should go for proper antibiotic prophylaxis before extraction ...
