Greetings! Thanks for the query. Boils are called Folliculitis in medical terms. It is due to inflammation of the hair follicles which can be caused by infection (bacterial, fungal or viral) or irritation. Boils on lower legs in females could be due to irritation from regrowing hair after shaving, waxing, electrolysis or plucking. Treatment of boils depends on the underlying cause. Infection can be treated with cream and oral medication if extensive. If boils are due to irritation from re growing hair it is best to avoid shaving for 2-3 months after last episode (if possible) or use a gentle hair removal method.
Next Steps
Please see a dermatologist for suggestion of appropriate treatment depending upon the underlying cause.
Health Tips
Please clean the area with gentle anti septic cleanser. Do not pluck or scrub the boils as it will make the condition worse.
