For vitamin B12, vitamin D, and iron (serum iron) tests, it’s usually best to give the sample in the morning. For iron, its recommended to fast overnight because recent meals can affect the levels. For vitamin B12 and vitamin D, fasting is not strictly necessary, but since you’ll already be fasting for iron, it’s better to do all three together in the morning on an empty stomach.
