Blood is coming out from my Dad's Nose
Hello, Since 2 days, blood is coming out from my dad's nose. The moment it starts, the blood comes out really fast n doesn't stop until for like 10 minutes. We do not see any blood coming the moment he lays on bed. Day before Yesterday, we could see the blood coming out for like 4 to 5 times but yesterday it has come out only once.. He is not Diabetic but he is a BP patient.. we did check his BP levels, they are quite normal. Not sure what's wrong and if this is a serious concern. Please advice. Thanks much!

Hi. Repeated episodes of bleeding from the nose must not be taken lightly, especially in a patient who is on treatment for high BP. Is he taking any blood thinners, if yes, he may require a change in the dosage of the medicines. What he needs is a diagnostic nasal endoscopy to find out the source of the bleeding. Another thing that I would like suggest is, plz donot make him lie down on the bed when he is bleeding from the nose. The correct way would be to make him sit up, bend forward and pinch the nose gently for about 5 min continuously. Also apply ice on the nose. If the bleeding doesn't stop even after doing this for 2-3 cycles, plz take him to the ENT specialist/emergency department of any hospital.
