Black/Grey Phelgm.

Black/Grey Phelgm.

Asked for Male, 61 Years

Iam coughing up thick white phelgm for the past 2 months. A few days back I noticed that the phelgm has turned grey/black. The sensation is coming from the throat. The cough is not a hacking type but more of throat clearing type(cough once and then throat clearing for expulsion of Phelgm). I am a non-smoker and no fever as such. CBC also normal. Is it serious?

Hi...Based on you brief history you might be having chronic pharyngitis with bronchitis!! Additional information required if u have any gastric reflux symptoms, breathlessness, wheezing?? Even a slight raise in temperature during evening is important.. Chronic cough with expectoration in india we have rule out tuberculosis.. Much common cause is gastric reflux... So detailed history is needed
